All Around the Moon

This is a science fiction novel that follows the adventures of three daring men - Barbican, Ardan, and M'Nicholl - as they embark on a journey to the moon in a flying car that is shot out of a massive cannon. This tale begins with their farewell to friends and loved ones, and the fastening of the trap door and iron plates for safety. The travellers then turn on the gas to light their chamber, which is well-equipped with instruments and amenities for their mission. As the clock ticks down to the moment when they will be launched into space, they engage in philosophical and scientific discussions, making the most of their remaining time on Earth.
