Irene Iddesleigh

A novel by a Larne schoolmistress who believed herself a genius and wrote in a prose of such magnificent excess that Oxford dons formed a club to read it aloud. Amanda Ros meant every word; the book is famous now for reasons she would not have accepted, and it has to be read to be credited. This edition carries fifty-nine plates of painting bound with the text, among them works by John Lavery, James Tissot and George Spencer Watson, dating from 1767 to 1911.
