Good-Morning, Rosamond!

Rosamond Mearely is the richest and fairest young widow in Roseborough, and her household at Villa Rose is run by the formidable Frigget women, who managed her late husband before her. Then a wounded German stranger turns up with secret business of what he calls international importance, and a quiet New England hamlet finds it has a great deal to talk about. Constance Lindsay Skinner was a British Columbia journalist and historian who wrote fiction on the side, and this is her comedy of small-town manners. Forty-three plates by painters such as Edward Lamson Henry and Charles Dana Gibson catch the small-town parlors, railways, and parlor music of the era.
