The Confessions of Arsène Lupin

Ten cases in which Lupin is the burglar, the detective, or both: a wedding ring, a scarf that hangs a man, a signature forged in front of witnesses. Maurice Leblanc wrote a Lupin story a month for a Paris magazine and complained that his gentleman thief had eaten his career. The confessions are told after the fact, when the money is already spent. Fifty-eight plates of street corners, old taverns and one thief, painted between 1850 and 1924 by Edwin Cockburn and Isaac Whitehead, keep the cases in the world where Lupin works.
