Martin Kay was born in Ceylon and educated in Scotland, England and Ireland. He is a maritime helicopter pilot, turned sociologist and regeneration specialist. He holds a PhD from the University of Limerick and his home is in the County. His special interest lies, on the one hand, in coastal communities and the maritime tradition and, on the other, in people in crisis at the interface with the State.
