Sketches of a Bavarian spa hotel and the Germans taking the cure in it, written by a New Zealander of twenty-two who was there to have a child nobody was to know about. Mansfield later refused to reprint the book, calling it immature; it is savagely funny. This edition is bound with 59 plates of painting from 1841 to 1920, among them works by Adolph von Menzel, Wilhelm Leibl and Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller.
