The Great War in England in 1897

A future invasion of England by France and Russia, told as war reporting with maps of the fighting in Sussex and the streets of London. Le Queux serialized it in a newspaper in 1894 with the help of a field marshal, and it terrified enough readers to influence the naval estimates. This edition is bound with 58 plates of paintings by Gustave Doré, Arthur Stockdale Cope, John Elliott and Glyn Warren Philpot, among others.
