The Tower of London

Nine days in 1553 when Lady Jane Grey was queen, told inside the walls of the Tower, with the executions at the end of it. Ainsworth wrote it room by room from the building itself, and it was published with Cruikshank's plates as a kind of guided tour of the place. Its 83 original illustrations have been carefully restored and coloured for this edition.
