Ghetto Comedies

Stories of Jewish life in London, New York and the shtetl - a rabbi's dilemma, a strike, a marriage broker, an old man who will not sell his shop. Zangwill wrote them after Children of the Ghetto and they are warmer and funnier. This edition binds fifty plates of painting with the stories, among them works by William Rothenstein, Edvard Munch, Harold Gilman and John Lavery, and restores and colours four in-text illustrations.
