The Alhambra

Irving lived for three months in the abandoned Alhambra in 1829, in rooms the caretaker's family kept for him, and wrote down the legends the people of the hill told about the place. The book made Granada a destination and did much to bring about the palace's restoration. This edition adds a gallery of 33 plates by painters including Fortuny, Sorolla and Barrón, and 27 illustrations restored and coloured for the first time.
