'A Labrador Doctor' is the title of an autobiography of a man named Wilfred Grenfell. He was a British medical missionary to Newfoundland. In the beginning, his mission was intended to improve the plight of coastal inhabitants and fishermen. Later, it expanded greatly from its initial mandate to one of developing schools, an orphanage, cooperatives, industrial work projects, and social work.
