'1492' is an enthralling novel set during the time of Christopher Columbus, revealing the tale of a Jew named Jayme de Marchena who is struggling to evade the grip of the Spanish Inquisition. In an attempt to escape from Spain, he eventually ends up as a part of Columbus' crew, working as a medical doctor on the ship.
