This book is a biography of George Washington written for a young audience. Washington was an American military officer, statesman, and Founding Father who became the first president of the United States. He was appointed by the Continental Congress as the commander of the Continental Army, and under his leadership, Patriot forces achieved victory in the American Revolutionary War. Additionally, Washington served as the president of the Constitutional Convention, which created and ratified the Constitution of the United States and the American federal government. Due to his many leadership roles in the nation's founding, Washington has been referred to as the "Father of his Country."
