Fur and the Fur Trade

Written before the sensibilities that now exist concerning the use and wearing of real fur, this is an account of the fur trade in Canada, Russia and Britain in the nineteenth century.
The writer begins by describing the difference between the outer coat (that which we would think of as the 'wearable' fur) and the undercoat that can be used for felting. He then describes the trading and types of fur in demand.
