This is an autobiographical novel that tells the story of a daring sailor who sailed around the world at the end of the 18th century. The Scottish-born John Nichol explored the globe on numerous voyages, touring every inhabited continent. He is present at many of the most significant events in the history of exploration and adventure. He fought pirates, traded with Native Americans, and served in the British Navy during the American and French Revolutions. He also sailed on the first female convict ship to Australia, entertained by the king's court in Hawaii just days after Captain James Cook's murder, and encountered the harsh realities of the slave system in Jamaica.
