Life of Isaac Mason as a Slave

Isaac Mason (1822 - 1893) was born into slavery but became a free man. His story gives a sometimes harrowing account of his time in slavery when he had no privacy nor no safe place, He ran away several times to the North. His story makes us pause and remember how fortunate we are, and also acknowledge the pain, bravery, and suffering of all those like him then and now.
