'The Lawton Girl' is a novel written by Harold Frederic. The story begins with a porter calling out for people to change cars for Thanksgiving dinner. He is especially friendly with two ladies, Mrs. and Miss Minster, who are wealthy and important individuals and shareholders of the railroad. The third member of the group, a young man named Mr. Boyce, is not given a warm farewell by the ladies. He has been traveling through a snow-covered country all day and feels that there is more snow and winter in his hometown of Thessaly than anywhere else.
