As a coastalradio station, Isfjord Radio maintained contact with both mainland Norway and allship traffic in the North Atlantic, as well as locally around Svalbard. Boats becamecentral to the station in many aspects of its life and duty.This book aims to gather information about the ships and boats that have beensignificant to the staff and visitors of Isfjord Radio. In the numerous boats and shipsassociated with various activities around the station, Longyearbyen, the Russiansettlements, and the region, Isfjord Radio is to some extent part of the history ofThese Areas. This book, of course, is not comprehensive in all aspects, but itattempts to cover as much as possible based on literature, official, and private photocollections.
