Romantic Legends of Spain

Spanish legends retold by the poet who is to Spain what Poe is to America - the moonbeam, the green eyes, the organist of Seville who plays after his death. Bécquer died at thirty-four and was famous only afterwards. This edition is bound with sixty plates of painting from 1835–1925, among them Rafael Romero Barros, Christian Skredsvig and Carlos de Haes, in the translation by Cornelia Frances Bates and Katharine Lee Bates.
