Canadian Melodies and Poems

'Canadian Melodies and Poems' is, as the title suggests, a collection of poems and ballads written by a Canadian author named George E. Merkley. Of more than a dozen titles featured, some of them bear the following titles: 'The Vigil', 'The Legend of a Dead Man's Lake', 'The Mystery of the Sea', 'The Sailor's Bride', and 'The Broken Mirror'. Here's an excerpt from 'The Vigil': "The Southern sun with his deep flood of light / Was slowly sinking, and the moated tide / Hung heavy o'er the dusky brow of night."
