The Hill of Venus

Thirteenth-century Italy, the last of the Hohenstaufen under the Church's ban, and a young man forced to choose between a vow and the woman he took it for. Gallizier's Italian romances were built on real chronicles and he did not soften what the chronicles said. This edition is bound with 59 plates of painting, among them works by Paolo Uccello, Viviano Codazzi and Giovanni Paolo Panini, showing Roman ruins, markets and festivals.
