Gods and Fighting Men

The coming of the gods, the battles of Moytura, Finn, Oisin and the end of it, told as one continuous story rather than a scholar's collection. Lady Gregory made her own English out of the speech of the Galway cottagers, and Yeats wrote the preface for it. This edition is bound with a gallery of sixty plates, among them paintings by John Duncan, George Petrie and William Sadler, ranging in date from 1771 to 1928.
