Reminiscences of Scottish Life and Character

Scottish character in anecdote - the ministers, the beadles, the lairds and the carters, and what each said when it mattered. Dean Ramsay collected them over fifty years in the parish and the book went through twenty editions in his lifetime. This edition is bound with a gallery of 59 plates after paintings by David Wilkie, Henry Raeburn, J. M. W. Turner and others, dating from 1665 to 1900.
