Lord Kilgobbin

A crumbling estate in the Irish midlands, a landlord with no rents, a Greek cousin and a Fenian rising gathering in the fields. Lever's last novel, written in Trieste as he was dying, and much the best thing he did - the comedy has gone cold and the politics are exact. This edition adds 43 bound plates after paintings by Erskine Nicol, James Francis Danby, John Bagnold Burgess and David Cox Jr., alongside 15 in-text illustrations restored and coloured for this printing.
