This volume collects the complete works of Edgar Allan Poe (Wikipedia). It started out as a restructuring and reformatting of the 1903 “Raven Edition” of his works—and then it grew.I have rearranged the texts according to genres in the order of first publications (though still using the later revised versions). I added all the stories, poems, essays, and some miscellanea that were missing in the “Raven Edition”. Thus, you’ll find in this collection:

Ăśber Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) ist die schillerndste amerikanische Dichterpersönlichkeit des 19. Jahrhunderts. Er wurde als Sohn zweier Schauspieler in Boston geboren, wurde jedoch schon im Alter von zwei Jahren zur Waise und wuchs im Haus des Kaufmanns John Allen auf. 1815-1820 ging er in London zur Schule, kehrte im Alter von elf Jahren in die USA zurück. Er studierte in Charlottesville, Virginia, war vier Jahre bei der Armee und arbeitete dann als Journalist und Herausgeber verschiedener Zeitschriften in Richmond, New York und Philadelphia. Von 1836 bis zu ihrem frühen Tod 1847 war er mit seiner Cousine Virginia Clemm verheiratet. Nach einem bewegten, größtenteils in Armut verbrachten und vom Alkoholismus überschatteten Leben starb Edgar Allan Poe vierzigjährig in Baltimore.
