The Kindred of the Wild

Animal stories written from the animal's side, without speech or moral - a lynx, a bear, a porcupine, each in a world of hunger and weather. Roberts and Ernest Thompson Seton invented this kind of story between them, and Roosevelt joined the public quarrel about whether it was honest natural history. Eleven plates by Corot and Daubigny carry the same weather and open ground the animals live in, from Fontainebleau oaks to fields and river scenes.
