The Filigree Ball

"The Filigree Ball" is a detective novel by Anna Katharine Green, telling about the investigation of a murder. The young woman, who's just been married, is found dead in an empty mansion she inherited as a child. Although first, the investigation concludes it was a suicide, a young detective proves the woman was killed, and her newlywed husband and his sister are primary suspects.
