The Empty House and Other Ghost Stories

Ghost stories by a man who had walked the places he wrote about: an empty house that repeats what happened in it, and the tales that gave Blackwood his standing as the finest supernatural writer of his generation. He had run a dairy farm and a hotel in Canada and worked as a newspaper reporter in New York before he wrote a line of fiction. Fifty-nine plates of moonlit forests, storm skies and solitary houses by painters including Caspar David Friedrich and Vincent van Gogh carry the same haunted weather these stories walk through.
