Complete and unabridged, with 60 full-page plates by Louis-Léopold Boilly, Hubert Robert and Marguerite Gérard. France in 1793 and after - the young republic's armies, the whites of the Vendee and the blues of the convention, and a boy who grows up between them. Dumas opened it with the boyhood of Charles Nodier in revolutionary Strasbourg, taken from Nodier's own recollections. This edition is bound with sixty plates of paintings from 1780 to 1855, among them works by Marguerite Gérard, Louis-Léopold Boilly and Hubert Robert.
