Armorel of Lyonesse

A girl raised alone on a Scilly island by an old woman turns out to be an heiress, and London tries to spend her. Besant wrote it in 1890 and it was among his most popular; the islands are drawn from a stay he made there. This edition binds fifty plates of painting with the text, among them works by Stanhope Forbes, Edvard Munch and Marianne North, and restores and colours its nine illustrations.
