Stories and Folk-Lore of West Cornwall

Complete and unabridged, with 59 full-page plates by Thomas Beach, Lemuel Francis Abbott and John Opie. A third gathering of West Cornwall tales - the piskies, the wreckers, the giants of the moors and the small farms that told these stories over the fire. Bottrell took them down in the dialect from people born in the eighteenth century. This edition is bound with 59 plates of paintings by Daniel Gardner, Thomas Stringer, John Hoppner and Thomas Robinson, and includes a preface and a glossary of local words.
