"Jemima Placid, or, The Advantage of Good-Nature," is a Victorian-era novel comparing the life of two little girls, each of which has quite a different temper than the other. The protagonist of the story, Jemima Placid, is a kind and complacent child, never querulous about her hard life. Her cousin is, in contrast, ill-tempered and nothing like Jemima. Life can be hard for both, but an open and kind heart will simplify things.
