Traditions and Hearthside Stories of West Cornwall. Second Series

Complete and unabridged, with 50 full-page plates by Walter Langley, John Brett and Benjamin Haughton. The second series of west Cornwall tales - the giants of the Land's End, the mermaid, the Lord of Pengersick, the drolls told by the fire in mining cottages. Bottrell had them from people born in the eighteenth century and wrote them in the speech he heard. This edition binds fifty plates of Cornish painting with the tales, among them works by Benjamin Haughton, Charles Napier Hemy and Harold Harvey, alongside ten restored and coloured illustrations.
