The Devil in a Nunnery, and Other Mediaeval Tales

Medieval tales in a deliberately old manner - a minstrel who is the devil and a convent that dances all night, and others in the same key. Mann, a scholar who edited the Elizabethan Thomas Deloney, wrote them in the manner of the old chronicles. This edition is bound with a gallery of 56 plates of painting, among them works by Benozzo Gozzoli, Anton Raphael Mengs, Edward Dayes and Giovanni Paolo Panini, ranging in date from 1450 to 1902.
