The Caxtons

A country scholar, his son, and a brother who has spent the family money - a household comedy about forgiveness, told by a father who keeps interrupting himself. Bulwer-Lytton wrote it after his own separation and it is the gentlest thing he did. This edition binds 53 plates after Edward Hicks, Myles Birket Foster, John Constable and George Morland, with five restored and coloured illustrations in the text.
